Tinnitus (pronounced TIN-ih-tus) is commonly referred to as a constant ringing or noise in the ears. Over 50 million Americans experience tinnitus to some degree; that’s about 1in 6 people. At least 50% of those individuals with tinnitus unknowingly also have hearing loss, and most of these cases go untreated. Those that do go untreated can often turn into more severe problems. Few ailments are as subjective as tinnitus. From what it sounds like to when it's most annoying to how debilitating it can be, tinnitus affects every patient differently.
